In tandem with the revival of the IPO market in the Chinese Mainland/Hong Kong and the milestone achievement of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board auditor inspection, short sellers have become active again in targeting Chinese companies listed on US and Hong Kong exchanges in recent months. Plummeted share prices, class actions or regulatory investigations often ensue from such attacks. How can public companies prepare for and prevent future short seller campaigns?
